ATTENDANCE POLICY

Good attendance and punctuality are vital to an outstanding performing squad. Absences and tardies affect the entire squad by limiting activities when even one person is missing. It is important not to inconvenience the entire squad and coaches during practice/class by being absent. Granite District Citizenship Policies will be followed.

A. Absences: Loss of daily points will result from any absence excused or unexcused!!!

1. Any member who is unable to attend a designated practice/class must call the captain at least one day in advance, if not earlier. The coach may excuse absences with a note for the following reasons:
a) Extreme personal illness, you must call before practice/class that day. Missing only cheer class during the day unless otherwise cleared, will be considered a sluff. Cheerleaders are expected to be at practice/class/games unless excused by a coach through a captain.
b) Death in the family.
c) Wedding in the immediate family. (Immediate family includes: brothers, sisters, mother, father.)
d) Pre-arranged vacation. Cheerleaders must notify coaches one month in advance of vacation. These absences are excused at the coaches’ discretion.

2. Unexcused absences include:
a) parties
b) concerts
c) vacations without one month prior notice
d) study time/church/work

3. Two unexcused absences per term will result in probation.
4. If absences are excused with any excuse other than those listed above, participation points will be lost for the day at the coaches’ discretion.
5. Absences due to work schedules are unexcused. Jobs must work around the cheer squad schedule as stipulated and agreed upon before try-outs.
6. Two unexcused absences will result in a “1” citizenship grade, three unexcused absences will result in a “0”. A sluff will result in an automatic “0” and probation.

B. Tardies

1. Tardiness will not be tolerated.
2. Tardies will affect citizenship grades and daily participation points.
3. Tardies over 15 minutes will count as an unexcused absence.
4. All cheerleaders must be willing to practice at designated times without notice.
5. Leaving early without prior notice will be considered a tardy/sluff depending on the amount of time gone from class.
